How Does Online Personal Training Work?

Online personal training is a comprehensive fitness coaching service that draws from my twenty plus years of experience to design a workout program, and lifestyle changes that will help you achieve your goals and transform your body in a timely yet healthy fashion. Your program is designed on a bespoke basis based on you providing me information about your exercise history, current fitness levels personal logistics (by way of gym access, home fitness equipment etc). We’ll look at recovery, movement, training, stress, sleep and nutrition to get the result you want, and I’ll gather information from an in depth questionnaire that you’ll complete.

I also ask you to send over a ‘before’ style picture that allows me to gauge your current level of muscularity, body fat. It’s one of the best measures as you go through your journey as photos don’t lie, and generally people want to look better in person. ie. Nobody asks your body fat mass in KG at the beach. You either feel confident in your body or you don’t.

If you wish to track calories, caloric intake is calculated based on your height, weight, age and activity level and body type. We will discuss various options to monitor food intake during our first coaching call though as sometimes there are better options for an individual.

What do I get in my package? 

Bespoke training plan – I will design your bespoke training plan from scratch within three days of your first call. Each training week will show you exactly what workouts to do, the exercise selection you’ll need as well as why this training protocol has been chosen and how it’s positioned to serve your goal.

Bespoke lifestyle plan – Your nutrition plan is far from generic, and works around the foods you like and want to eat rather than a standard meal plan, which I usually see fail. It all starts with you filling out a few days of a nutrition log telling me everything you eat and drink, times you consume and also quantities. From there I may work out the number of calories, meal frequency and macronutrient split that I would like to see you on, or we’d use other methods which involve less digital tracking and more visual/instinctive measuring.

You will experience an education in healthy eating to achieve your training goals in the most timely fashion.

Supplement recommendations – A lot of supplements are absolute garbage and a waste of your money, however there are times at which a protein shake might be a convenient way to consume nutrients when the alternative would have been a missed meal or a meal that affects your goal negatively.

I’ll also be able to recommend and advise on the use of more useful supplements, which I use myself and have recommended for years.

Exercises/Workouts – As an online personal training client, you will have full access to my App. There will be all workouts that you need, mobility drills, holiday plans, basically whatever we deem necessary for you to achieve your goal, and every exercise included in your training plan will have a corresponding video with full teaching points to make sure that your technique is perfect.

Ongoing support – All online personal training customers will have full email support from me. This means you can get an email reply within 24 hours at any time on your training plan. All this together with a weekly call to keep accountability super high.

Educational resources – My job to equip my clients with enough fitness knowledge and resources to be able to take control of their health and indeed that of their families. I’ll send regular emails with information, articles and anything I think is beneficial to you.

How you feel – Many clients notice an increase in energy, better mood, within the first 2 weeks of starting their regime. This is often the result of increased activity levels, a non-inflammatory diet, and integrated recovery and mindfulness practices that we collaborate on. We look at your life from multiple angles, nutrition, recovery, stress and movement.

Have you always been an online fitness coach?

No, my online services started after requests from my clients that Id trained in previous countries that Id worked. Also with previous 1:1 clients, as they traveled the world and needed a program they could do on their own whilst they were away, it was extremely beneficial, and didn’t limit my ability to help people globally.

What if I only want nutrition coaching, or sleep coaching? 

That is certainly possible, if you are already following an exercise program of your own. Just email me for more info.

What kind of support do I get?

I will always get back to you within 24 hours of your email, and I will be available via email throughout your training program. Also, Online Coaching clients get a 1hr Zoom call after the initial Questionnaire, and then also weekly to chat personally in real time. We’ll discuss how the previous month went, how the next month looks, and go over anything you struggled with or were successful at. These calls are awesome for collaboration as we’re a team at the end of the day. You will pick lifestyle changes based on our conversation and adhere to them for the month.

What happens after my 90 day coaching program? 

That really depends on how close you were to your final goal when we started the training program. Some clients have achieved amazing progress over their 90 days but most prefer to continue on to reach more goals, the average time clients spend with me being 2yrs, and has been as long as 9yrs. Again, this will depend on the level of change we need to achieve and the degree to which the coaching relationship is preferable to training alone.

Do you help me with my medical conditions / injuries? 

I will not diagnose injuries and would advise that you get in person advise on any injuries before starting your training program. Medical advice is not a part of my service. To be clear, although my training programs work toward optimal health they are not intended as a replacement for personalised medical advise, but I can work with all your medical professionals such as Drs, Physios, Osteos etc.

Do I need to have gym access or fitness equipment to use the plan? 

No, because each program is written on a bespoke basis I will work with whatever fitness equipment you have available to you. Where you do not have gym access and are in need of some pieces of equipment to achieve your goal, I will make those recommendations. Lots of my clients train at home with different equipment.
